When you first start using acne glycolic for acne, it takes time to reverse stopped up pores. It takes time to get to the harden sebum oil and soften it. It will take up to 3-6 weeks to do this, depending on the severity of your condition. Regular used of glycolic acid helps to prevent pore blockage and acne.

Glycolic, an alpha hydroxyl acid, is safe to use since it is a natural product. It is nontoxic and had FDA approval in concentrations of 10 % or less. It does not enter the blood stream and not considered a drug. There are no side effects when used as directed on the bottle, except for some sensitive to the sun after its use.

This product is proven to be effective in acne treatment. It is one of the most effective chemical to use in the treatment of many skin conditions such as: acne, blackheads, whiteheads, pustules, bumps, psoriasis, eczema, dry skin, age spots, and pre-cancerous growths.

When starting out to using this acid, it is best to start with 2.5 % or 5 % to see how you skin will react. Then you can increase the concentration to 10%. Most cosmetic products have 10 % or less of glycolic. The concentrations used by trained cosmetologists are between 20 and 30 % and those used by doctors can range from 50 to 70 percent.

The benefits of using glycolic are improved skin quality and reduced skin aging. It give the skin increased moisture through exfoliation. It makes the skin denser, improves the quality of elastic fibers, and promotes increased collagen density. This acid helps to reduce skin blemishes and imperfections.

Despite the controversy, the use of acne glycolic has been found to be effective in cleaning dead skin cells from the skin’s surface, provided it used correctly. It must be used in the proper concentration, 10% or less, in products for exfoliation and moisturizing.

When dead skin is removed from the skin surface, it becomes smoother and gives a younger appearance. Glycolic also has the ability to draw moisture to the skin. Many of the acne glycolic acid products contain additional moisturizers and neutralizers to work against the corrosive action of glycolic acid.

Using high concentration of glycolic chemicals should be done under the supervision of a dermatologist or a doctor. Skin damage can occur in the high glycolic concentrations. With the high concentrations, the skin will look extremely damage, but this will clear up in 2-3 days based on your ability to recover from skin injury.

There are many people that are using higher concentrations of glycolic as a chemical peel. A chemical peel is where a complete exfoliation of the skin occurs. In this case, up to 50 % acid concentrations are used. Using these concentrations leaves the skin extremely sunburned. The skin looks damaged and unsightly, but after a few days the skin repairs and looks smooth. Use acne glycolic acid for an effective acne treatment. Concentrations of 10 % or less are what you should use for home treatment.
