What Causes Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) And How to Clear it Up

People who have had Bacterial Vaginosis before should talk to their doctor as to why they contracted the condition. Some people believe that it comes from sex with more than one partner. While it can be true it cannot be scientifically proven so it is not technically classified as a sexually transmitted disease but often cases of Bacterial Vaginosis occur after sex with more than one person. But there is more than one cause that brings on Bacterial Vaginosis.

One idea of how Bacterial Vaginosis occurs is by abnormal balances in a woman’s pH levels. Sometimes when there is a change in the balance, which is caused by microorganisms called Lactobacillus, these bacteria can stop vaginal microorganism from reaching abnormal levels. When this organism is not being produced then it cannot do its job and Bacterial Vaginosis may occur. Beside the scientific causes that most people don’t fully understand. There are other causes of BV as well.

One of those causes is Thongs, yes believe it or not when cloth rubs against the vagina for long periods of time, Bacterial Vaginosis may occur. Another cause of Bacterial Vaginosis is from women who are sexually active from the ages from 15 to 44, it happens mostly when you have sex with someone new. You don’t have to sleep around to get the condition, as many people believe to be true, it just takes sex with a new partner.

Though condoms are not 100% effective against anything, they prove to be some assistance when it comes to Bacterial Vaginosis. Of course, these are causes of Bacterial Vaginosis but they are not the only causes. Most cases of BV come from a woman’s chemical balance. Often times an iron deficiency may be to blame for Bacterial Vaginosis.

There are some cases where women who have had sex with another woman has something to do with the cause of Bacterial Vaginosis in some women. But let’s not forget that girls that are younger than 15 are susceptible to getting Bacterial Vaginosis and the cause is strep. Or another reason may be improper hygiene. Girls and even women who don’t take care of themselves properly such as regular showering or proper bathroom hygiene may be more likely to get BV than other women.

There are complications to the condition, such as Pre-Term Labor. Women who are pregnant should be very careful and should consult their doctor as soon as possible. Or women who suffer from PID or Pelvic Inflammatory Disease are more prone to getting Bacterial Vaginosis. But talk to your doctor, only you can really provide the answers to help the doctor determine how you came down the Bacterial Vaginosis and what the best course of treatment is.
