Travels in New Mexico and Southwest (1930)
Michigan Avenue, Chicago, Illinois; Carlsbad Caverns, New Mexico, with many tourists in attendance; Billy the Kid House; El Torreon; Jim White, discoverer of Carlsbad, N.M.; desert cactus; Frijoles Canyon cliff dwellers; giving candy to Native American children; Tonita, potter from San Ildefonso Pueblo; Taos Pueblo and its residents.
We travel first to many old New Mexico Pueblos and visit the indians and some potters there. We then take a tour of some old indian caves with a guide (and his dog apparently), interesting how there’s not that many tourists around. The Medicuses scouted their vacation spots well. Then they go to Carlsbad Caverns and that’s where all the tourists are. Interesting that the founder, Jim White also was there. Good shots of him and his unfortunate hair here. The caverns are not much, because of the lighting obviously, but got my attention though. After this, back to reality and we get shots of Chicago. Very nice reel.
